Election Systems and Software (ES&S), in collaboration with Microsoft and Intel, is pleased to announce an exciting new ES&S product, the ExpressPoll Pollbook Tablet which brings together the best in class of tablet technology, processing speed and electronic pollbook interfaces. This confluence of the best in class of each of these technologies allows us to bring to market an impressive election system solution for our existing and future customers. The tablet selected by ES&S for its newest electronic pollbook is the 10-inch Toshiba Encore 2 Windows tablet powered by the quad-core Intel® Atom™ processor.
The speed and the cost performance provided by the Toshiba-Intel platform now make this the most compelling pollbook solution offered in the market today. ES&S test piloted a number of different tablet technologies and we can say with confidence that a Windows based technology was the clear winner for both functionality and usability. For this critical system, making the switch to Windows tablets was an easy choice for ES&S. Windows’s tablets provides a number of unique benefits– including the stability of the operating system and robust support for peripherals, as well as the ability to lock-down the device environment. The overall solution was extremely cost-competitive, especially since it allows us to leverage our proven existing application code base which in turn allows us to share these cost savings with our customers.
“We are excited that ES&S has chosen Windows tablets to power its electronic pollbooks, in order to enhance voting experiences. Coupling performant, cost-competitive tablets with the security and manageability of Windows will allow ES&S to speed their time to market and provide the best experience for election officials and voters alike.” Jeremy Korst, General Manager, Windows Product Marketing at Microsoft.
“The Toshiba Encore 2 Windows Tablets are powered by the Intel Atom processor, providing fast and reliable performance with long battery life. We aim to provide the best experience on Windows for our customers and are excited to work with Toshiba and Microsoft in enabling new electronic pollbooks technology for ES&S,” said Josh Newman, general manager of tablet and 2 in 1 platform for Intel.
Existing customers will enjoy the same intuitive poll worker friendly application they currently enjoy – just on a newer platform. For new customers, this joint venture is a dream come true. It provides a great product, at a great price, utilizing technology from companies who are the best in their field. ES&S will be exhibiting this exciting new technology later in the week at the National Association of Secretaries of State conference being held at the JW Marriott in Washington D.C on February 11th and 12th.
